Meet by chance.
Connect by choice.
Most social apps start with profiles, followers or a feed. Shorebound lets chance make the introduction.
Your bottle may reach someone across the world you would never otherwise meet. What happens next is up to both of you.
“The ‘message in a bottle’ concept is such a refreshing way to build genuine, worldwide relationships.”

How does a message in a bottle app work?

Is Shorebound free?
Shorebound is free to download for iPhone and iPad, with no ads. You can try it for free, then keep going with a plan that fits — or lifetime access forever.
Is it safe to talk to strangers on Shorebound?

What happens when a bottle sinks?
Not every bottle makes it to shore — some sink along the way. That's part of the charm, but a sunk bottle isn't gone forever: you can resurface it with a Revive Token, earned through activity or purchased. Learn more →
Is Shorebound available on Android?
Shorebound is built natively for iPhone and iPad and requires iOS or iPadOS 26 or later. There's no Android version at this time.
How is Shorebound different from Bottled or Slowly?
Like Slowly, Shorebound believes in slow communication — but there are no profiles or matching. Like Bottled, it starts with a bottle — but adds multi-person journeys with distance tracking, ten bottle types with real perks, karma, streaks, collections, and zero ads. Learn more →
What does "keep or release" mean?
When a bottle washes ashore with you, you decide how its story goes. Keep it and it's saved to your collection forever — you can always come back to it, and both you and the writer earn karma, but its journey ends with you. Release it and it heads back out to sea: each release raises the chance it sinks, but if it survives it reaches a new country and a new person who faces the same choice. Learn more →
Does Shorebound have ads?
No. Shorebound is completely ad-free and doesn't sell your attention. It's designed to feel like a calm walk on the beach, not a feed. Learn more →
